Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli’s winning streak continued at the latest Mille Miglia, after the duo took their fifth and fourth successive respective victories on June 15, 2024.

Vesco and Salvinelli are the first crew in history to win the the ‘most beautiful race in the world’ four times on the trot – all of which were accomplished aboard their trusty 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS Spider Zagato.

Finishing second in the 1600km odyssey from Brescia to Rome and back was the capable pairing of Gianmario Fontanella and Anna Maria Covelli, in a 1927 Lancia Lambda Casaro VII Serie. The runners-up were followed by another 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C, which was crewed by Alberto Aliverti and Stefano Valente.

“We are happy – how could we not be?” Vesco enthused, after becoming the first of 421 crews to reach the Brescia finish line. “We prepared to do great things, and we are happy because this year we were in front from the first trial, and we always kept the lead.

“We did very well, and now we will enjoy this victory,” he concluded.

The special Ferrari Tribute class saw models from Enzo Ferrari’s marque accompany the historic machines on the route. It was won by the capable pairing of Frank Binder and Giordano Mozzi in a Ferrari 296 GTS, with the 812 GTS of Celestino and Antonio Sangiovanni coming home in second place.

Winning the Mille Miglia Green class for sustainably fuelled vehicles was Mirco Magni and Alessandro Ferruta in a Polestar 2, while the 1000 Miglia Experience prize went to Ismaele and Marco Luigi Ghilardelli in a Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé.
