Renowned auction house RM Sotheby’s has announced a high-profile partnership with leading fashion designer Ozwald Boateng. The partnership will see co-operation between the two brands across a range of activities in 2022, including Magneto‘s inaugural Concours on Savile Row in London on June 15-16.

The keenly anticipated Concours on Savile Row event will see the famous London street closed to traffic. It will be used as a venue to celebrate and showcase luxury car manufacturers and automotive specialists with displays of collector cars.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the bespoke side of the automotive industry, dovetailing with the long-standing presence of world-class tailors on the Row. This will also accentuate the relationship shared between artisans in both the tailoring and automotive industries.

Sir Ozwald Boateng opened his first shop on Savile Row in 1995 aged just 28, becoming the youngest tailor on the sartorial street. From there, Boateng became a trailblazer in the fashion world, sitting as a creative director at Givenchy, overseeing Paris catwalk shows and dressing some of the world’s most famous movie and fashion stars on his way to winning numerous international accolades.

“As a business and as a car lover, I’m delighted to partner alongside RM. There are obvious synergies between our brands, bringing the best in luxury goods to an international audience who value the highest-possible standards in bespoke design and quality,” Ozwald Boateng said. “We hope to work alongside RM Sotheby’s and Sotheby’s across a number of projects in 2022.”

The partnership will involve RM Sotheby’s hosting its hospitality inside the Oswald Boateng store, giving guests the opportunity to learn about the brand and arrange private bespoke appointments with the renowned designer himself, in addition to perusing RM Sotheby’s collector car live auction and private sales offerings.

Marketing director of RM Sotheby’s Peter Haynes said: “There simply isn’t another tailor on Savile Row that embodies the same international approach to innovation, quality and design, and it’s Ozwald’s truly international appeal that makes him such a tremendous partner for us. We hope that the Concours on Savile Row is just the beginning of a number of projects that our brands will partner together with over the coming year.”
