The 75th edition of Sweden’s Midnight Sun Rally is set to delight Historic motor sport enthusiasts once again in 2025. Organised by the Royal Automobile Club of Sweden (KAK), the rally will take place from July 11-12 in the magnificent surroundings of Ericsbergs Castle.
First held in 1950, the event has remained a highlight of the European motor sport calendar ever since, attracting competitors and enthusiasts from across the continent.
The 75th edition promises to be a memorable one, with up to 120 pre-1990 App K class rally cars and 20 Regularity entries taking on the scenic stages of Sörmland. For two days, competitors will navigate carefully planned routes through the picturesque landscape of the Katrineholm region.
Friday’s six stages include stretches near Flen, Eskilstuna, Gnesta and Malmköping, with a lunch stop at Heden Malmköping. Saturday, meanwhile, will see competitors tackle four new special stages, before reaching the finish line at Ericsberg Castle. Prizes will then be awarded on the castle steps.
Enhancing the spectacle is the Castle Sprint Rally (Slottssprinten), scheduled for Saturday, which shares several stages with the Midnight Sun Rally.
KAK is organising the event in collaboration with the Katrineholms Motorklubb, which is led by Crister Nystrand and Leif Fredriksson.
“We have looked over many parameters: everything from route lengths to reducing transport distances with less environmental impact and wear and tear, and of course also giving the audience a rally experience 2.0,” said Nystrand.
Fredriksson added: “We’ve run the Castle Sprint Rally ten times now and, in fact, the Midnight Sun Rally inspired it. In 2012, the rally’s lunch break at Ericsbergs Castle sparked what has become a cherished tradition.”
