A 1935 Swallow Sidecar SS1 Two-Door Coupé was named Best of Show at the fifth edition of the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival on October 13-15, 2024, in Tennessee, US.
The Best of Show-winning car – owned by Eduardo Zavala of St Petersburg, Florida – is a rare surviving example of the model that was first unveiled at the London Motor Show in 1931. This particular car was sold new to Argentinian tango dancer Ada Falcón and spent 80 years in Buenos Aires before being exported to the US.
Other highlights of this year’s Chattanooga Motorcar Festival included a Luftgekühlt gathering of air-cooled Porsches, as well as a Saturday-morning parade led by event founder Byron DeFoor alongside racing champion and grand marshal David Hobbs.
Visitors also enjoyed celebrity panel discussions, a street festival, laser light shows, a fundraising gala and a balloon drop, while collectors flocked to the official Broad Arrow Auction.
“This was just a fantastic three days of fabulous cars, and fun activities for families and car fans,” said DeFoor. “I am grateful to those who brought their beautiful cars to show and share with everyone who came to the event.”
All proceeds from the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival benefited Chattanooga’s NeuroScience Innovation Foundation, which supports research and innovation into brain health and debilitating neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease.
