RM Sotheby’s Online Only: Open Roads auction is live and will run until February 28. The London-based online sale features an eclectic collection of cars, motorcycles and memorabilia in which 42 marques are represented over 119 lots.
The Open Roads auction was made an online-only event in response to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic, similarly to other automotive events over the past 12 months.
The resounding success of the switch to online-only shows, auctions and events is a testament to the adaptability of the industry, and will likely continue when COVID is a distant memory.
A collection of seven rare limited-production Porsches are up for sale in the Open Roads auction and are estimated to be worth a combined £3,653,238 (€4,228,770 $5,121,993). The collection includes a V10-powered Porsche Carrera GT, a Porsche 918 and 911 GT2 RS ‘Weissach’. The seven Porsches are being sold by a single Swiss collector.
“This collection of Porsches, offered by a discerning Swiss-based collector, represents one man’s passion for the Stuttgart marque and his desire to bring together some of the rarest and most desirable models produced over the last 25 years,” says RM Sotheby’s motor car specialist, Oliver Camelin.
There are also several vintage racing cars available, ranging from a 1917 Packard 2-25 Twin Six Runabout, to a 1976 Opel Manta rally car.
