The Magarigawa Club is slated to become Japan’s latest purpose-built motor sport venue when it opens its doors in spring 2023, adding to the country’s already enviable selection of circuits such as Suzuka, Fuji and Autopolis.
Constructed in a mountainous region 65 miles south of Tokyo, the Magarigawa Club comprises a 2.17-mile circuit and Owners’ Paddock that includes five luxury villas with four-car garages overlooking the track.
The organisation behind the project is Cornes & Company, which is the largest retailer of luxury vehicles in Japan. Cornes & Company has confirmed that all five villas have already sold out.
The circuit itself was designed by Tilke Engineering and Architects, which is headed by renowned Formula 1 track designer Hermann Tilke. The challenging layout includes 22 corners – several of which are blind – and an 800-metre straight.
Tilke’s resumé includes numerous tracks that are currently on the F1 calendar, including Austria’s Red Bull Ring, Yas Marina Circuit, Circuit of the Americas and the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore.
Access to the Magarigawa Club is not solely restricted to those with on-site accommodation, and 50 memberships are still available for a one-time joining fee of around £186,000 apiece at current exchange rates. It is reported that 100 memberships have already been sold.
