Porsche Cars North America has selected the finalists for this year’s Restoration Challenge. Now in its fourth year, the 2024 contest saw 55 entries, spread over three categories: Preservation, Restoration and Individualisation. The contest focuses on classic Porsches from the 1950s to the 2000s that have been refreshed by Porsche-trained technicians.

A panel of experts from Porsche Cars North America and the Porsche Club of America run the rule over entries from three sales areas: East, South-Central and West – at events taking place over the summer. “This year’s competition was truly inspiring,” said Jonathan Sieber, senior manager of Porsche Classic. “Each team’s dedication and passion exemplify the true spirit of craftsmanship and passion for vintage Porsche vehicle restoration.”
In the Area East section (pictured in the carousel below), the finalists are as follows:
Preservation: Paul Miller – 2002 Boxster
Restoration: Porsche Mechanicsburg – 1997 911 S (Type 993)
Individualisation: Porsche Englewood – 1985 911 Carrera
In the Area South-Central, the finalists are as follows:
Preservation: Harper Porsche – 1994 928 GTS
Restoration: Porsche Louisville – 1977 911 Turbo
Individualisation: Porsche Charlottesville – 1996 993 Carrera 4
In Area West, the finalists are as follows:
Preservation: Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas – 1986 911 Targa
Restoration: Porsche San Francisco – 2006 Cayman S
Individualisation: Porsche Tucson – 1979 911 SC
At each event held over the summer the attendees selected their favourite participant entries, and honourable mentions went to Porsche Exchange’s 1975 911 Targa (Area East), Porsche Minneapolis’s 1956 356 Speedster (Area South-Central) and Porsche Santa Clarita’s 1986 911 Targa (Area West).
The winner will be announced at a special ceremony at the Petersen Automotive Museum on October 4, 2024. More details here.
