Pininfarina has announced a classiche programme to certify the cars it designed and produced between the 1950s and the 1990s. The Pininfarina historical archive took two years to catalogue using specialised software, in collaboration with the Historical Studies department at the University of Turin.
The archive contains production serial numbers for more than 700,000 cars spread across 50 different models, alongside 20,000 historical documents in the form of sketches, shape plans, photographs, sheets plus technical data and correspondence.
Pininfarina is focusing on several early cars, such as the Alfa Spider, Fiat 124 Spider and Pininfarina SpiderEuropa and Volumex
Using these resources, Pininfarina can issue production-specification declarations corresponding to each vehicle’s chassis number, such as the destination market, model and type code, external colour, interior finishes, factory exit date plus engine and body number. Although the programme looks to encompass the full range of Pininfarina productions, including modern classics, the firm is focusing on several early cars, such as the Alfa Romeo Spider (1966-1993), Fiat 124 Spider (1966-1982) and Pininfarina SpiderEuropa and Volumex (1982-1985). The programme will then be expanded to other brands and models.
The price for cars produced before 1980 is €400 including VAT, and it’s €300 including VAT for cars produced after 1980. To request certification, owners are urged to contact [email protected] or visit here for more details.
