Automobili Pininfarina has unveiled a €4.4m ($4.8m) all-electric open-top barchetta at Monterey Car Week.
The new car, dubbed the B95, is based on the 1876bhp underpinnings of the marque’s Battista hypercar, and is inspired by Pininfarina’s Pura Vision design concept.
It can sprint from 0-62mph in under two seconds
Pininfarina will build just ten B95s, with customer deliveries scheduled for 2025 to coincide with the company’s 95th anniversary. The car is powered by four permanent magnet synchronous motors, one at each wheel, which enable full torque vectoring for improved steering response and handling.
As with the Battista, the B95 develops 1876bhp and can sprint from 0-62mph in under two seconds. Top speed is around 190mph.
The electric motors are powered by a liquid-cooled T-shaped 120kWh battery pack that runs through the middle of the car and provides a low centre of gravity. It can also be charged from 20 percent to 80 percent in around 25 minutes with a 270kW charger.
The B95 chassis is a modified version of the Rimac-designed carbonfibre monocoque used in the Battista. The B95 version is 49mm wider than the Battista’s, with the same length and width.
Enhancing the open-top driving experience of the Barchetta are the world’s first electronically adjustable aero screens, which Pininfarina says were inspired by vintage fighter planes.
The cabin layout is identical to that of the Battista, and features a blend of tan leather, houndstooth fabric and exposed carbonfibre. Customers can also order bespoke helmets that are matched to the colour specification of their car.
