California’s Petersen Automotive Museum has opened a special exhibition celebrating the life and career of the late Ken Block, renowned for his series of viral Gymkhana videos and for his role in founding DC Shoes and Hoonigan. Tragically, Block was killed in a snowmobile accident back in January 2023. He was just 55 years old.
The display, entitled People’s Champ: The Impact of Ken Block, highlights key moments from Block’s career through a diverse collection of his vehicles, personal effects and memorabilia. It is scheduled to run until October 2025, and is located in the museum’s Meyer Gallery.
“Block’s profound influence has ignited the passion of millions,” said the Petersen Automotive Museum’s executive director Terry L Karges. “His fearless driving and innovative vision in motor sports content have forever shaped the automotive landscape.”

Headlining the exhibition is a collection of Block’s most famous vehicles, as well as his racing suits, helmets and momentos from key moments in his career. The artefacts are organised chronologically and punctuated by the Ain’t Care Wall, which showcases broken and damaged vehicle parts that embody his fearless persona.
Exhibition highlights include the 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi that launched Block’s Gymkhana series in 2008. It is joined by several of his most iconic cars, such as the 1965 Ford Mustang RTR Hoonicorn, which tore up Pikes Peak, the 2016 Ford Focus RS RX from his FIA World Rallycross Championship campaign, and the all-electric 2022 Audi S1 E-Tron Quattro Hoonitron, built for Elektrikhana. The full list of cars can be found at the bottom of this article.
The exhibition was created in collaboration with the 43 Institute, a non-profit organisation formed to inspire, offer mentorship and keep Block’s legacy alive for future generations.

“This exhibit is a meaningful tribute to Ken’s legacy, reflecting his lasting impact and the inspiration he brought to motor sports and car culture,” said Ken’s wife, Lucy. “The 43 Institute is committed to fostering the opportunities that sparked his passion and creativity.”
