A 1952 Ferrari 212 Inter Ghia EL and 1964 Ferrari 250LM took top honours at the 33rd Cavallino Classic on January 28, 2024.
Organised by Canossa Events, and held annually in the opulent grounds of The Breakers resort in Palm Beach, Florida, the Cavallino Classic is regarded as the world’s foremost Ferrari concours.
In addition to the concours, Cavallino 2024 also featured exhibitions, live Q&A sessions with experts and collectors, and a Tour d’Eleganza rally. Guest also enjoyed world-class cuisine from chefs Michele Casadei Massari and Juan Manuel Barrientos, as well as live music in the Party Under the Stars.
The Palm Beach Cavallino Classic is regarded as the world’s foremost Ferrari concours
“We are honoured to carry forward the 46-year journey of Cavallino magazine and the 33-year tradition of the Palm Beach Cavallino Classic,” said Cavallino CEO Luigi Orlandi. “These two initiatives have significantly contributed to preserving and restoring Ferraris of all periods in America. The success of this year’s gathering underscores its status as the world’s most important event organised in the name of the Prancing Horse.”
The Cavallino Classic also sought to give back to the local community, by donating a portion of each ticket sale to charitable projects such as the scholarship fund of the Palm Beach Police and Fire Foundation, as well as the AW Dreyfoos School of the Arts, whose students played music for the Party Under the Stars.
Best of Show Gran Turismo was awarded to Dennis and Susan Garrity’s 1952 Ferrari 212 Inter Ghia EL, chassis 0191. Featuring one-off coachwork by Ghia, it originally served as Ferrari’s factory show car for the 1952 Paris Auto Salon, before being acquired by Latin American politician Juan Perón.
Best of Show Competizione went to the 1964 Ferrari 250LM (chassis 6053), owned by Chris and Ann Cox. Chassis 6053 raced at the Le Mans 24 Hours and Daytona 24 Hours in period, and was restored to factory specifications by Ferrari Classiche in 2021.
Brian Ross’ 1966 Ferrari 275GTB Competizione (chassis 09063) won Best of Show Classiche Certified. The stunning alloy-bodied car was sold new to legendary Mexican racing driver Pedro Rodríguez by Luigi Chinetti, and boasts impressive motor sport provenance, with entries in the Daytona 24 Hours and Sebring 12 Hours. It was fully restored in the 1990s by Cognolato and Michelotto, and was previously owned by former Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone.
