Armed Forces charity Mission Motorsport has recreated the Goodwood Motor Circuit as a huge 7m x 7m slot car track, in order to increase public awareness of its invaluable works, support fundraising activities and build veteran engagement.
Built in collaboration with Scalextric, the 30m circuit features digital-control technology that allows more than ten cars to race at the same time. This also gives the ability to perform driver changes during pitstops – just like the high-profile races held at the Goodwood Revival.
Using Scalextric track and accessories, key elements of the real Goodwood circuit – including the chicane, well known overtaking spots and historic buildings – have been faithfully replicated in 1:32 scale. Customised model buildings and landscaping have been added by Slot Track Scenics and Magnetic Racing, two UK-based speciality slot car-modelling companies.
The circuit was designed to be mobile, and it will be showcased at various events in 2024. The public’s first opportunity to sample the circuit will be at the Bicester Scramble in Oxfordshire on January 7, 2024. Tickets for the Bicester Scramble can be purchased here.
