Maserati has followed the path of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Bugatti in becoming the latest manufacturer to launch a department dedicated to preserving, restoring and certifying historic vehicles.
The Italian company’s heritage division is called Maserati Classiche, and the first car to receive an official Certificate of Authenticity is a 1969 Maserati Mistral 3700, finished in a silver Auteuil livery. The Bologna-based marque says that over 300 checks were performed on the car against documents in its historical archive during the certification process.
Certification is open to Maseratis that are at least 20 years old, and the process is said to be overseen by a committee of experts specifically selected by the marque.
Modern classics such as the Quattroporte, 3200GT and MC12 are some of the most recent models that are applicable for certification. Maserati Classiche will also offer owners a maintenance service, in-house repairs and on-demand detailing.
Maserati Classiche will begin offering spare parts and restoration services in 2022, promising to re-manufacture parts that are no longer available. Interestingly, the Italian marque also says that it will use the “best technology there is to improve the reliability and functionality of components, with no changes to their aesthetic appearance”.
Owners can now apply for Maserati Classiche certification via the division’s newly launched website, which also outlines the multitude of new services on offer.
