Online auction platform Collecting Cars is bringing 2024 to a close with its Land Rover Collection that contains some of the marque’s most desirable, exclusive and iconic models. The collection is live on collectingcars.com from December 1-8, 2024.
The one-week auction has attracted bidders and consignors from around the world. Highlights include cars from the James Bond franchise, run-out Defender Classic Works V8s, fully restored and low-mileage models, as well as Range Rover Classics and modern Defenders. A special lot will see the buyer’s premium donated to the Help for Heroes veterans’ charity.
A 2011 Land Rover Defender SVX ‘Spectre’ is one of the lots that is attracting considerable attention from collectors. This particular example stands as the only Land Rover to have starred in two consecutive 007 films – Skyfall and Spectre. In Skyfall, the car appeared as a 110 Double-Cab, before being transformed by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations and Bowler divisions into the ‘Bigfoot’ Defender for Spectre. The vehicle is accompanied by signed documentation and a bespoke Spectre plaque.
Another temptation for 007 aficionados is a rare 2021 Land Rover Defender 90 V8 Bond Edition. The limited-edition model was created by Land Rover SV Bespoke, and was inspired by the Defenders seen in the most recent Bond film, No Time To Die. Just 300 examples were built worldwide. Located in Denmark, this particular example is left-hand drive and has covered just 14,600 miles from new. Sweetening the deal for UK-based bidders is the fact that this 5.0-litre supercharged machine retains its VAT Qualifying status.
Classic Defender fans will be drawn to the all-black 2014 Defender 90 Works V8 70th Edition. It is one of just 150 examples built to commemorate the marque’s 70th anniversary in 2018. Lurking beneath the Landie’s iconic silhouette is the brand’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine that develops 400bhp and 380lb ft of torque – enough for a 0-62mph time of just 5.6 seconds.
Complementing the 90 Works V8 70th Edition is a 2015 Defender 110 Heritage. Another last-of-the-line model, this Grasmere Green example has covered just 695 miles from new. As a commemorative car, it contains a raft of retro details, including steel wheels, ‘HUE 166’ decals, and a classic grille.
A military-inspired 1983 Land Rover 101 Forward Control is a very special lot in the auction. Finished in Nato Green, this purposeful machine has just 21,755 miles on its odometer, and its buyer’s premium will be donated to the UK’s Help for Heroes charity. The special lot has been organised by Collecting Cars in partnership with Land Rovers of London.
Other highlights include a one-of-a-kind 2016 Land Rover Defender 110 XS built by Bespoke Defenders, and a 1980 Land Rover Series III 88 that has been meticulously restored.
“The Land Rover marque has always been a firm favourite, and its enduring legacy since the 1950s ensures it remains a cornerstone of the global collector car market for both classic and modern models,” said Collecting Cars founder and CEO Edward Lovett. “Our Land Rover Collection pays tribute to this iconic brand while meeting market demand for some of the rarest and most sought-after variants.”
