WORDS: DAVID LILLYWHITE
The world of concours d’elegance continues to grow around the globe, with new events being introduced every year and existing ones expanding in size and variety. Until now, though, there haven’t been any awards that specifically recognise all concours events worldwide.
Now there is, in partnership with Magneto‘s annual publication The Concours Year, which documents all the award winners of 50 of the world’s most important concours events. The Concours Year Awards will recognise the achievements of the entrants and the organisers of leading events, with judging led by ICJAG chief judge Chris Kramer.
For 2023, the categories will be the following:
Concours Car of the Year, chosen from the Best of Show winners from every concours featured in The Concours Year
Concours Class of the Year, to reflect the most innovative and important classes of the year
Entrant of the Year, to reward the concours entrant who has stood out across all concours events
Volunteer / Unsung Hero of the Year, for the person who has gone beyond the call of duty to deliver a great event
Concours Initiative of the Year, to recognise innovation within the concours world
Concours Achievement of the Year, for the special endeavour that has stood out in 2023
Entries for all except the Concours Car of the Year are nominated by the concours organisers themselves. The results will be announced in the 2023 edition of The Concours Year, which goes to press in mid-November, immediately following the Las Vegas Concours d’Elegance. The few events that take place afterwards will be included in the 2024 awards.
