HERO-ERA (Historic Endurance Rallying Association – Endurance Rallying Association) is celebrating the loosening grip of Covid restrictions in Europe with the London to Lisboa Rally on April 21-30, 2022 – and spaces are still available.
The ten-day springtime rally will see crews navigate 2000 miles of Europe’s greatest roads across five countries in myriad classic cars, all on their way to the finish line in southern Portugal.
HERO-ERA plans to add several exciting new destinations to the ‘Freedom Trail’ route as many of Europe’s Covid restrictions are predicted to be lifted over the next two months, with announcements expected in due course.
The premise of the London to Lisboa Rally is a snaking southbound route through vineyards, mountain ranges and open plains, for an enjoyable journey on the uncongested roads of the Continent. An alluring waypoint that has already been confirmed is the Principality of Andorra, whose snaking Pyrenees roads will offer one of the most picturesque and challenging portions of the route.
The event promises a blend of test and regularities, and is rated as an intermediate blue-coded event with simple navigation, allowing crews ample opportunity to enjoy the driving experience. HERO-ERA has also been diligent in mapping a route that will suit the eclectic mix of cars viable for entry, which range from pre-war Bentleys to classic Porsches.
London to Lisboa’s UK startline will be located nearby to the evocative Brooklands Banking in Weybridge, southwest London, and will finish at Estoril in Portugal; the circuit where Ayrton Senna took the first of his 41 wins in Formula 1. Bookending the trip with such evocative locations is sure to make HERO-ERA’s first trans-continental trip since the pandemic even more special.
The rally promises adventure and escapism on breathtaking roads in incredible scenery, as well as the chance to enjoy European culture away from the usual tourist hotspots amongst the camaraderie of like-minded enthusiasts.
