A 2023 Bugatti Centodieci was crowned the winner of the coveted Coppa d’Oro Best of Show prize at the Villa La Massa Excellence in Tuscany, northern Italy on October 14, 2024.

The Villa La Massa Excellence concours, organised by Canossa Events, draws inspiration from the esteemed Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. This exclusive event showcases premier sports cars manufactured from 1990 to the present day.

The winning Bugatti is owned by renowned Swiss car collector and custodian of the Pearl Collection Fritz Burkard, who made history early this year after taking the overall win at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance following his 1934 Bugatti Type 59 Sport’s victory in the Preservation Class.

Burkard’s Centodieci was awarded the Coppa d’Oro prize during a glamorous gala dinner held at Vito Mollica’s Atto at Palazzo Portinari in the centre of Florence. The limited-production hypercar was built in 2022 to celebrate Bugatti’s rebirth under Romano Artioli in 1991 – the year of founder Ettore Bugatti’s 110th birthday.

The winning Bugatti was among 22 vehicles showcased at the event, and it also won the Evolution Class ahead of a 2023 BMW M3 Homage. The Innovation Class was another highlight, with first prize being awarded to the only all-electric car fielded in the concours: a Pininfarina Battista owned by Italian collector Luciano Colosio.

One of the most innovative categories rewarded cars that are driven and enjoyed regularly. The winner was Elia Dal Canton’s BMW Z8, which boasted an admirable 77,600km on its odometer. An award was also presented to the machine that travelled the furthest to reach the event, and was presented to Camillo Mechaker-Vogele’s Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster.

Another worthy winner was the stunning Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione fielded by Silvia and Chiara Cavallaro. Immaculately presented in black paint and chrome metalwork, the Alfa has been in the Cavallaro’s possession since 2009.

A Gemballa Mirage GT Gold Edition took the prize for the popular vote as well as the Children’s Award. The dramatic hypercar is a highly modified version of Porsche’s legendary V10-powered Carrera GT produced by German tuner Gemballa.

Once the judges had handed out the silverware, the stunning sports car cavalcade filed out of Villa La Massa to begin a tour of Mugello, meandering through the Fruta and Giogo passes.

Canossa Events has confirmed that it is already organising the third edition of the Villa La Massa Excellence, which is scheduled for October 2025. Click here for more.
