Two shooting brakes based on a Maserati and a Rolls-Royce are being put up for auction by Bonhams at its Zoute sale in October.
The Rolls-Royce Silver Spectre shooting brake is the newest of the two cars, constructed in 2020 from a 2015 donor Wraith that had originally been registered to Rolls-Royce UK. The owner teamed up with the Niels van Roij Design studio to create what was planned to be the first of seven cars. However, this is – and will remain – a one-of-one creation.
Constructed by Carat Duchatelet between 2018 and 2020, the body makes extensive use of carbonfibre to reduce weight. It features a hand-made ‘infinity starlight’ headliner that is described by Bonhams as “a celestial nightscape of fibre-optic strands; the stars fade out towards the rear, giving the impression of an endless starlit sky”.
The conversion took 18 months and 2500 hours to complete, costing the owner €300,000. Just 200km has been covered since the conversion was completed, and in total it has done 17,800km. Bonhams has placed an estimate of between €300,000 and €350,000 on the car.
The second shooting brake is one of four Maserati Bellagios built by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. Using a first-generation MkV Maserati Quattroporte as a base, it was constructed for the former Ducati CEO, Dr Carlo Bonomi, for use on his estate. Built in 2009, it was the first car constructed, and as such featured heavily in the promotion of the project.
Bespoke features included dual tilting rear seats with longitudinal adjustment, a fridge, two monitors housed in the rear of the front headrests, storage for a pair of shotguns, and a dog barrier. Bonhams has estimated between €150,000 and €200,000.
