The 2024 Cavallino Classic Middle East showcased some of the world’s finest Ferraris at Casa Ferrari on Yas Marina Island in Abu Dhabi on December 8.
Launched back in 2021, the Cavallino Classic Middle East has established itself as a major international concours d’elegance for Ferrari enthusiasts and collectors from around the globe.
This year’s coveted Best of Show prize was awarded to a 1961 Ferrari 400 Superamerica owned by US collector Kevin Cogan. The winning car (chassis 2841), was displayed at the 1961 Paris Motor Show before being acquired by its first owner, Count Herbert Fritz Somsky of Switzerland.
The car then made its way to the US and passed through the hands of several owners before being fully restored by Bill Pound and California’s Symbolic Restoration in 2003. It has since made appearances at major concours events including Pebble Beach, the Palm Beach Cavallino Classic, Salon Privé and Ferrari’s 70th Anniversary Celebration in Maranello.
Other standout award-winning cars included the 1991 F512 M (chassis 99689), which claimed the prestigious Twelve Cylinder Award, and the 2005 Ferrari Enzo (chassis 125308) that earned the Supercar Award.
The Eight Cylinder Award, meanwhile, went to a 1999 F355 F1 Spider (chassis 116270), while the iconic 1985 288 GTO (chassis 52739) captured the coveted Ferrari Award. More contemporary cars, such as the 2015 FF (chassis 207676) and 2024 SF90 Spider, also took home silverware, winning the La Dolce Vita Award and The Ferrari Award respectively. The 1996 F50 (chassis 105081) bagged the Chairman’s Award.
“I’m truly delighted that, in just its fourth year, Cavallino Classic Middle East has reached the level and acclaim of an international Concorso d’Eleganza.” remarked Cavallino chairman and CEO Luigi Orlandini. “The growth of such an event, even in countries without a deep-rooted tradition in this field, is a testament to the enduring interest and passion for automobiles – and Ferraris, in particular.”
The focus of Ferrari enthusiasts now turns to the long-running Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach, Florida, which gets the 2025 concours season underway on January 25.
