The British Motor Museum in Warwickshire, UK, has opened a new exhibition dedicated to future automotive technologies, entitled Transitions: The Impact of Innovation. Scheduled to run until summer 2024, the exhibition examines how the motor industry is striving to create vehicles that are cleaner, more efficient and safer, as well as how these developments will affect vehicles of the future.
The Impact of Innovation will revisit many of the themes covered in the museum’s 2019 exhibition, The Car. The Future. Me. The new exhibition, however, pays particular attention to the practicalities of introducing new technologies, and how they will affect the vehicles we drive.
Several cars, such as an all-electric Nissan Leaf and hydrogen-powered Riversimple Rasa, will be displayed to demonstrate how cutting-edge technologies have already been implemented. Complementing these vehicles are a variety of interactive stations that will educate visitors about areas of future automotive development, including powertrains, material usage and new control methods.
“We are in a period of radical change, and can see how quickly cars are shifting,” explained head of collections Stephen Laing. “Electric motors are slowly supplanting internal-combustion engines, while drivers are being supplemented with autonomous controls. Transitions will look at what the car will become in the future, and how the industry will take us there.”
