Audrain Motorsports has announced that the Audrain Veteran Car Run presented by Bonhams will return for 2023, with the organisers hoping that it will become the US equivalent of the UK’s London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.
The 50-mile route will depart from the the Audrain Automobile Museum on Bellevue Avenue in Newport on Sunday, April 30, and take in the local beaches of Newport before heading north along back roads through Middletown and Portsmouth. It will then cross the Mount Hope Bridge to Bristol, before heading back on itself to Aquidneck Island. The tour will stop along the water at The Aquidneck Club for a spot of lunch, before a leisurely automotive stroll back to the Audrain Automobile Museum.
Cars built before 1908 are eligible for the event, and entries are limited to two people per car. There will be a cocktail reception for owners on the Saturday evening prior to the tour, plus breakfast and lunch on the day. Once the tour is over, tea will be served to those taking part.
“The Audrain Veteran Car run is a celebration of the early days of motoring, with many Brass Era car collectors from New England and across the US taking part,” said Donald Osborne, Audrain’s CEO. “Our event is unique in the US, and we hope that within a few years it will become as popular as the world-famous London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, which has been in existence in England since the 1920s. After just one year, our event is already being referred to as the American London to Brighton – a reference we are immensely proud to support and repeat.”
