Alan Mann Racing (AMR), one of the most prolific names in British motor sport, is beginning the next chapter of its history as the high-performance division of Boreham Motorworks. The agreement aims to blend AMR’s deep motor sport heritage with Boreham Motorworks’ craftsmanship and engineering expertise. The first product of this collaboration will be unveiled in early 2025.
Both AMR and Boreham Motorworks are divisions of the DRVN Automotive Group, whose portfolio of companies includes Evolution E-Types, Koenigsegg London and JW Motorworks.
Founded by Alan Mann in 1964, AMR quickly gained prominence by excelling in touring car and endurance racing as part of Ford’s Total Performance programme. The team became synonymous with Ford’s most iconic models of the era: Cortina, Escort, Mustang and GT40. These red- and gold-liveried cars were driven by prolific drivers of the era, including Graham Hill, Sir Jackie Stewart, Bruce McLaren and Mario Andretti.
2024 marks AMR’s 60th anniversary, and the company looks to build upon its heritage by leading the development of Boreham’s high-performance road and racing cars. Significantly, Boreham Motorworks revealed earlier this year that it had gained Ford’s approval to build ‘remastered’ versions of the legendary RS200, as well as Group 5 Escort Mk1 Continuation cars. A further five models are to be revealed at a later date.
“We are incredibly excited to join Boreham Motorworks as its high-performance division,” said AMR managing director Henry Mann. “This allows us to not only preserve and celebrate AMR’s rich heritage, but also bring it into a new era of innovation and customer experience.”
Earlier this year, Ford presented Henry Mann and his brother, Tom, with the Spirit of Ford Award at a prestigious ceremony in Florida, US. The award was presented in recognition of AMR’s contributions to the Blue Oval’s motor sport history and achievements.
AMR’s 60th anniversary has also been celebrated with the release of a new documentary, Alan Mann Racing: 60 Years of Motorsport Excellence. The film features unseen interview footage with significant figures from the company’s history, recounting the team’s golden era in international motor sport. You can watch the documentary here.
A key component of the new partnership is the Boreham High Performance Club, which will be overseen by AMR. Set to launch in 2025, the club is an exclusive community for Ford enthusiasts that will host events celebrating the marque’s high-performance models and history.
“We are thrilled to welcome Alan Mann Racing into the Boreham Motorworks and DRVN Automotive Group family,” said DRVN Automotive CEO Iain Muir. “Together, we will push the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of Continuation and remastered vehicles, staying true to the legacy of Alan Mann and Ford’s motor sport heritage.”
Still based in Surrey, UK, the AMR headquarters remain a time capsule of the company’s storied history. Henry Mann still works at his father Alan’s desk, surrounded by memorabilia from the 1960s. The workshop, meanwhile, is filled with historic Ford racing cars, including the 1968 British Saloon Car Championship-winning Escort Mk1, which is often joined by GT40s, Lotus Cortinas and Mustangs.
