Seventy significant British cars will come together to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Party at The Park celebrations at Windsor Castle on Saturday, June 4.
The cars – representing each year of Her Majesty’s reign – will be displayed along the Long Walk leading to the famous London landmark, and demonstrate the best of seven decades of British automotive engineering.
“We were honoured to be asked to support the event by supplying vehicles from 1952 to 2022, hailing seventy years of motoring history,” says organiser Car & Classic’s head of editorial, Chris Pollitt.
“Of course, one of the marques traditionally favoured by the Royal family features high on our list: the 1952 car is a Land Rover Series One 80-inch, while the most modern is a Land Rover Defender. Aston Martin’s presence is secured by a DB2/4 followed by a DB4, DB6 Vantage Volante, V8, DB7 GT and V12 Vantage,” Pollitt explains.
Car & Classic has confirmed that a truly eclectic group of British classics will be on display in addition to the luxury models traditionally used by the Royal Family. An MG Midget is confirmed to be part of the roster, as is a Reliant Scimitar – a model favoured by Princess Anne.
The cutting-edge engineering of today’s British car industry is proudly represented by a McLaren GT, while a 1993 Rover Sterling with Royal provenance will be sold during the Jubilee weekend.
Fittingly, donations from the event will be support the Prince Phillip Trust Fund, which aims to improve the quality of life for those living across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. More information on this special Platinum Jubilee celebration can be found here.
