$6 million Lamborghini Veneno Roadster sets online auction record with SBX Cars

A 2015 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster set the online-only auction record when it crossed the block for $6m in an SBX Cars sale on May 29, 2024. The impressive figure shattered the previous record holder, a 2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta, which sold for $5.36m via Bring A Trailer in 2022.

The second of just nine examples built, the Veneno was delivered new to a member of the Saudi Arabian Royal Family in 2015. The matte black machine has covered only 1105 miles since then. It was last previously consigned to an RM Sotheby’s auction in 2020 with a pre-sale estimate of €4.5m to €5.5m, although it failed to find a buyer.

Lamborghini created the limited-production Veneno hypercar as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations in 2014. The model features a carbonfibre monocoque chassis and race car-inspired aerodynamics. It is powered by an uprated version of the Aventador’s 6.5-litre V12, which develops 750bhp and 509lb ft of torque.

SBX Cars, the new online-only auction platform founded earlier this year by YouTuber Alex Hirschi – better known as Supercar Blondie – has announced it will sell one of the three Lamborghini Veneno Coupés in the coming weeks. The 127-mile example is available to view on SBX Cars’ website here.
